The home is where you should feel most comfortable and able to do the things you want and need to do. Our home-based Occupational Therapy services are aimed at assisting people with injury and illness to overcome obstacles that prevent them from having UNLIMIT-ED potential in their home.

Cleaning Assessments

Our cleaning assessment and re-education service aims to identify the physical, environmental, behavioural or equipment barriers that prevent people with injuries and illness from engaging in cleaning tasks. Specialists in helping you to complete cleaning tasks within your injury or illness limitations, our functional re-education sessions focus on equipment and techniques that minimise re-injury and pain.

  • A recommendation for support services
  • A recommendation for equipment suited/designed for single-handed use
  • A recommendation for lightweight equipment/techniques that minimise/eliminate aggravating movements and postures

Personal Care Assessments

Our personal assessment and re-education service aims to identify the physical and environmental barriers that prevent people with injuries and illness from engaging in tasks such as showering, dressing and shopping. Specialists in helping you to achieve independence with even the most personal of tasks, our functional sessions focus on equipment and techniques that minimise re-injury and pain, and when required, recommend the provision of support services.

 

Personal care assessments may include assessment of:

  • Showering/toileting/dressing
  • Meal preparation

Bed/Mattress Assessments

Our bedding/mattress assessment and prescription service aims to make sleep and rest, comfortable and easy. With extensive knowledge of therapeutic bedding options, and strategies for safely and independently transferring in, and out of bed, our specialist team can recommend bedding options that meet your unique needs.

Seating Assessments

Our seating assessment and prescription service aims to make being at home and doing what’s important to you, comfortable and easy. Specialists in helping you to complete lawn mowing, lawn edging, pruning and weeding tasks within your injury or illness limitations, our functional re-education sessions focus on equipment and techniques that minimise re-injury and pain.

Mobility Scooter Assessments

When driving is no longer an option, our mobility scooter assessment and prescription service aims to help people access their local community safely and independently. With extensive knowledge of mobility scooter options, our specialist team can recommend a mobility scooter that is suitable for your assessed goals and environment.

 

Mobility scooter assessments involve:

  • Assessment of a user’s capacity to safely control a scooter
  • Education on scooter storage, maintenance and insurance

Wheelchair Assessments

Our wheelchair assessment and prescription service aims to provide professional advice and direction on manual wheelchair and seating solutions that are appropriate to specific injury needs. With a focus on ensuring that your wheelchair allows you to access the different places you go, and perform the roles that are important to you, our team works closely with wheelchair suppliers and support services to achieve your wheelchair, pressure relief and postural care goals.

Driving Assessments

Our certified Occupational Therapists can deliver Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation services and provide recommendations about your capacity to drive a car, truck or ride a motorcycle after injury or illness.

 

Driving assessments involve:

  • Assessment of the ability to drive
  • Support for obtaining a learners or probation licence
  • Rehabilitation to resume driving
  • Recommendation for vehicle specifications or modifications
  • Liaison with relevant state authorities where required
